Personal Reflection on Pastor Sewell's Words Against Bishop Budde as a Faith Leader  (Danny Bawibikthawng) In the context of Christian ethics, the tension between holding personal beliefs and demonstrating love and respect toward others is a recurring theme. For Christians, it is essential to navigate this balance, recognizing the call to love all people regardless of their background or beliefs while also remaining faithful to one’s convictions. This reflection explores the intersection of these principles, particularly in response to contemporary issues and public discourse.   Respecting Differences While Upholding Love As a Christian, the biblical command to “do to others what you would have them do to you” (Matthew 7:12, NIV) serves as a foundational principle for ethical conduct. This directive emphasizes the importance of treating all individuals with kindness and respect, regardless of differences in beliefs, lifestyles, or political ideologies. While Christians ...

Loving the Unlovable: Embracing Jesus' Teachings on Unconditional Love

Loving the Unlovable: Embracing Jesus' Teachings on Unconditional Love (Danny Bawibikthawng) January 23, 2025 At the heart of Jesus' teachings lies a profound and counterintuitive principle: loving the unlovable without judgment. This radical concept challenges our natural inclination to judge, criticize, and condemn those who may seem unworthy of love.   As Jesus himself said, "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you" (Luke 6:27-28). This teaching is echoed in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, which reminds us that "love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs."   As I reflect on my own life, I'm reminded that I'm not always lovable. In fact, I've done things that might make others question my character. And yet, despite my flaws and shortcom...

If Jesus Can Love Them, Why Can't We? by Danny Bawibikthawng

If Jesus Can Love Them, Why Can't We?f (Danny Bawibikthawng)   In a world where divisions and disagreements are rampant, revisiting the teachings of Jesus Christ is essential. Jesus consistently demonstrated love, compassion, and acceptance towards all individuals, regardless of their background or beliefs. As Christians, we are instructed to "love our neighbors as ourselves" (Mark 12:31) and to "love our enemies" (Matthew 5:44). The apostle Paul further emphasizes this teaching, instructing us to "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15).   However, in today's society, people are often judged, marginalized, and excluded due to their theological perspectives, faith, or identity. This contradicts the biblical teaching that we should not judge others but rather focus on loving and accepting them (Matthew 7:1-5).   The story of the woman caught in adultery, found in John 8:1-11, illustrates Jesus' approach. Instead of condemning her, Jesus show...

"I Was Once an Undocumented One and Stranger in a Foreign Land" (Danny Bawibikthawng) Photo Source: UNHCR Malaysia  Introduction The call to love and show compassion is at the heart of our Christian faith. In a world marked by divisions, fears, and misunderstandings, the issue of immigration serves as a powerful reminder of this call. Today, I want to share my personal story as an undocumented immigrant and reflect on the biblical mandate to welcome the stranger. My journey and the teachings of Scripture challenge us to embody God’s love in how we treat those who are vulnerable, marginalized, and seeking refuge. Through this message, let us explore how our faith informs our response to one of the most pressing moral and social issues of our time. My Story: A Stranger in Malaysia I was once an undocumented immigrant, a stranger in a foreign land. Due to the political turmoil in Burma under a military dictatorship, I fled my homeland and sought refuge in Malaysia. However, Ma...
